This song had me weeping, and I had to share it. Mainly so I never lose it.

Caruso (Josh Groban)
A friend from Feb 05 reminded me of this wonderful song called Caruso. My favorite version is by Josh Groban. Hands down.
This is live, in Germany. I believe it was recorded just after Janet Jackson flashed the world at the Super Bowl.
Caruso:
Caruso (english) Lyrics
Here, where the sea shines
and the wind howls,
on the old terrace
beside the gulf of Sorrento,
a man embraces a girl
after the tears,
then clears his throat
and contines the song:
I love you very much
very, very much, you know;
it is a chain by now
that heats the blood inside the veins,
you know...
He saw the lights out on the sea,
thought of the nights there in America,
but they were only the fishermen's lamps
and the white wash astern.
He felt the pain in the music
and stood up from the p iano,
but when he saw the moon
emergin from a cloud,
death also seemed sweeter to him.
He looked the girl in the eyes,
those eyes as green as the sea.
Then suddenly a tear fell
and he believed he was drowning.
I love you very much,
very, very much, you know;
it is a chain by now
that heats the blood inside the veins,
you know...
The power of opera,
where every drama is a hoax;
with a little make-up and with mime
you can become someone else.
But two eyes that look at you,
so close and real,
make you forget the words,
confuse your thoughts,
so everything becomes small,
also the nights there in America.
You turn and see your life
through the white wash astern.
But, yes, it is life that ends
and he did not think much about it,
on the contrary, he already felt happy
and continued his song:
I love you very much,
very, very much, you know;
it is a chain by now
that heats the blood inside the veins,
you know...

"Rhapsody in Blue"
"Rhapsody in Blue," an instrumental solo piano piece written by George Gershwin in 1924, is most likely one of the most beautiful love songs of all time. I'm not exaggerating. When I worked at San Francisco Music Box Company as a manager, this song was one of my absolute all time favorites in a music box. It was wonderful in the 16-note musical movements, but it was simply divine in the 32-note movements and higher. In all honesty, it's one of my favorite songs of all time, in a music box or out. It's timeless and romantic, and it's absolutely full of emotion and passion.
"Rhapsody in Blue" is also known as "A Time For Us" and is the love theme from Romeo and Juliet (1968) with Olivia Hussey as Juliet and Leonard Whiting as Romeo. To this day, I think that this is the defining theatrical production, and certainly is the best version, of Romeo and Juliet. I suppose I'm biased, with this also being one of my top 3 favorite movies of all time. It's purely instrumental for the movie, but I just fell in love with this song all over again thanks to the heavenly vocals of Josh Groban. The song popped up on my Launchcast Plus completely randomly today, and I've been searching desperately to find it so that I can listen to it any time without having to buy the CD just yet. Being broke sucks. ;-)
Anyway, I found this slideshow video, to my absolute delight, with huge gargantuan thanks to The Just Josh Groban Blog, who deserves 100% credit for finding the video and lyrics at all. I'm so happy to have found this, I honestly feel like my heart is going to burst. Isn't amazing that music can do that to us?

A Time For Us
A time for us, some day there'll be
When chains are torn by courage born of a love that's free
A time when dreams so long denied can flourish
As we unveil the love we now must hide
A time for us, at last to see
A life worthwhile for you and me
And with our love, through tears and thorns
We will endure as we pass surely through every storm
A time for us, some day there'll be a new world
A world of shining hope for you and me
For you and me
And with our love, through tears and thorns
We will endure as we pass surely through every storm
A time for us, some day there'll be a new world
A world of shining hope for you and me
A world of shining hope for you and me
